We have carried out a number of successful building contracts either as “Lead Contractor” or as the formal Principle Contractor under the CDM Regulations.
We are often engaged on very large schemes by Main Contractors who wish to sub-divide the project into sub-sections with each one having a “Lead Contractor” acting as one point of responsibility reporting to the Main Contractor but essentially running this mini-project with their own supply-chain.
An example of this is Colchester Garrison where we acted as “Lead Contractor” on the Building L02, an extension and refurbishment contract within the overall PFI scheme being undertaken by Sir Robert McAlpine.
A further example is at St Bartholomew’s Hospital where we are undertaking the Catering Block refurbishment package as part of the overall Barts & The London PFI project for Skanska. Our package involved the strip-out, reconfiguration of the four floors, wall, floor and ceiling finishes as well as installation of fixtures and fittings.
Other “turn-key” construction packages where Clients often want a competent General Builder to carry out all works in connection with a section of works include EDF substations. We have carried out a number of these successfully for our Clients.
