About Us

Nick joined the Avondale Team in 2003.

Nick gained a 2:1 BSc (Hons) degree in Quantity Surveying from Nottingham Trent University in 1998. As part of his sandwich course, Nick carried out an industrial placement  year with Tilbury Douglas Major Projects (now Interserve). On graduating Nick joined Laing Construction (North West) which later became Laing O’Rourke where he was involved in a number of prestigious projects including the Ian Simpson designed Urbis Centre, Manchester Metrolink and the Greater Manchester Police Authority PFI scheme.

Avondale Construction Limited was incorporated on 16th May 1978 by Joe Curran, and has been overseen by him continually from this time. With Joe at the helm, Avondale has become an established Trade Contractor to a number of members of the UK Contractors Group and over the years has been involved in a number of the largest and most challenging projects the Construction Industry has seen. Joe has imbedded a ‘can-do’ attitude, high customer service and outstanding health and safety record at the heart of Avondale’s ethos and this has lead to numerous repeat  Clients contracts over the years.

Roy has a myriad of Project Director experience in large, complex, Central London projects. Roy has an impressive CV which includes working for Blue Chip Major Contractors, Laing O’Rourke, Skanska and MACE. Projects which Roy has Project Managed including establishing the logistical strategy include:

Cannon Place, a £200m air rights development over the Network Rail station involving innovative engineering, including re-design of M&E systems and phased construction solutions to keep the railway operating.The £120m Ascot Racecourse project from initial contact to final delivery to time and budget. His experience and expertise has strengthen Avondale’s pre-construction team and benefits our Clients who we give logistical advice to on their larger schemes.

Mark joined Avondale in 1987 and is now a member of its senior management board. Mark has a wealth of experience built up from the logistical, waste management and general builders project he has managed. Among his attributes are excellent interpersonal skills and an aptitude for problem solving which is of benefit to our Clients on their more challenging schemes. Bluechip projects which Mark has managed for Avondale include:

• Croydon Tramlink
•  The British Library
• The Millennium Dome
• The Ministry of Defence, Whitehall
• Barts Hospital

Gerry joined Avondale in 1990 and is now a member of its senior management board. Gerry has an excellent grounding in Construction having previously worked as an Engineer for Sir Robert McAlpine. This strong technical ability strengthens our ability to provide solutions for our Clients’ logistical and construction issues. Bluechip projects which Gerry has managed for Avondale include:

• The Royal Festival Hall
• The ExCel Centre, Docklands
• Enabling Works, Chelsea Barracks
• Leicester Square Refurbishment

 Don joined Avondale in 2008 and is now a member of its senior management board.

Don has over 40 years experience in Quantity Surveying and Commercial Manager working on a number of prestigious Central London projects. Don has been a valuable addition to Avondale and works closely with the Directors, managing the Estimating and Surveying Team. Notably projects Don has overseen commercially for Avondale include:

• Nestle Hayes (Facilities Management)
