Constructors Cycle Experience with Avondale Construction Limited UK
Nick Curran (MD) and Kane Whitlock (Estimator) have both recently completed the Constructors Cycle Experience alongside Michael Barratt MBE.
The scheme looks to raise awareness of the risks faced by cyclists and pedestrians in London and to ensure safer working methods are implemented during construction. The experience began at the Olympic Park to actively experience the benefits of cycling infrastructure, discuss disability equality and the challenges with construction interventions.
Using Santander Cycle Hire, the Avondale team cycled a variety of highway layouts which included mandatory, advisory and segregated cycle lanes, quiet routes and roads without cycling facilities with high HGV flows. We then stopped, observed and negotiated on foot areas where road works had impacted pedestrians with a focus on disability.
Hats off to Nick and Kane who were not deterred by the heavy rain fall and look forward to our collaborative planned approach to inclusive working.
