Project Description: Greatmoor energy-from-waste facility, located in Aylesbury, Buckinghamshire is owned by Buckinghamshire County Council and was developed by FCC Environment to tackle the county’s residual municipal waste problem through a long-term solution. The plant diverts over 100,000 tonnes of waste from landfills each year and has an annual processing capacity of 300,000 tonnes. Beyond waste management, the facility is also able to generate 6.6MW of thermal energy, enough to heat roughly 660 households. Operational since November 2015, the plant is built to last for at least 3 decades. It provides power to 36,000 households and injects an annual boost of £2.3 million into the local economy. It is expected to generate at least £150 million in savings over its 30-year lifespan.
