Project Description: A major hospital project in Tooting, Springfield University Hospital was the redevelopment of the existing mental health facilities, which included the construction of a Forensic and Non-Forensic unit to the hospital site in Tooting. 

The new facilities comprised of eight wards and outpatient services for children, young people, and adults. The inpatient wards offer bright, spacious environments with sensory rooms, garden courtyards, and the most advanced safety features and technologies to enhance patient care.

Project Highlights: Avondale’s logistics team were responsible for coordinating traffic and logistics for all parties on the larger STEP estate, ensuring that the existing hospital continued to operate as ‘business as usual’, alongside Sir Robert McAlpine’s works and the introduction of several neighbouring construction sites on the estate. Works at Springfield Hospital continued throughout the pandemic, with Avondale assisting Sir Robert McAlpine to overcome the challenges of maintaining a safe working environment for the operatives on site.
